Worship and Sunday School

The mission of the Children’s Education Department at Countryside Community Church is to support families in the process of teaching their children the love of God, the teachings of Jesus, the history of the church and the responsibilities of being a Christian.

Countryside Church provides nursery care for babies and toddlers and Sunday School classes for children age two through 5th grade, concurrent with the worship service schedule, at 9:00 and 11:00 AM. At the beginning of most worship services, prior to adjourning to Sunday School children Kindergarten and older are invited up onto the chancel steps for a “Children’s Moment,” which is an integral part of the church family worship experience.

Sunday School provides a variety of carefully planned and age-appropriate experiences for each child. Lessons are Bible story based, with many interactive learning activities. Curriculum is supplemented with outreach projects during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. A favorite event each year is Vacation Bible School, for children aged 4 through 4th grade. The week’s program includes music, crafts, Bible stories, food and recreation focused on a specific theme for that week. During our Vacation Bible School week, the 5th, 6th and 7th graders participate in a learning mission experience called Countryside Street Kids. This takes place at the church and out in the community.

All of the children’s programming is directed by Countryside Church staff, but developed and provided by parents and other volunteers in the congregation. The children’s education program is overseen by the Board of Christian Education.
